In order to further reinforce the SPOBIS platform and networking concept and to establish the event as an annual meeting place for the entire industry, we are creating space for a whole variety of meetings by associations, clubs and commissions. The following meetings took place during the SPOBIS 2020:

A successful career in the sports business industry. A VSD interview with managers who have made it

The professional association of sports managers (VSD e. V.) will once again organise a special networking event at the SPOBIS 2020 to help all members, partners and interested parties to further their career in the sports business industry. The focus will be on the question of “How can I build a successful career in sports management?” during this discussion entitled ‘A successful career in sports business – high achievers in interview with the VSD’. The impressive careers of two sports business managers will be considered openly and honestly during a double interview. Among others with Stefanie Kunzelnick (Anpfiff ins Leben e. V. – association marketing/communication/fundraising) and Stephan Peters (moderation – Managing Director, VSD/Sports Pioneers Services).

ASS (Alumni Sportmedien/Sportmanagement) meets SPOBIS

Students and alumni of the German Sports University Cologne (SpoHo) will use the SPOBIS to exchange on the latest scientific findings and news from their alma mater. All SpoHo graduates and students are invited to attend, along with all those interested in the latest findings in sports management, sports communication and life on campus at Germany’s only sports university. The event is organised by alumni of the sports media and sport management programme (ASS).

DHB sponsors workshop

In 2020, the German Hockey Federation (DHB) will host its annual sponsors workshop at the SPOBIS for the first time. This event will not only facilitate internal networking among DHB partners, but also provide insights into the wider sports business world.

European Leagues Strategic Committee

The European Leagues gather its Member Leagues for a meeting of its Strategic Committee at SPOBIS. 

The European Leagues – the Association of European Professional Football Leagues – is the voice of Professional Football Leagues across Europe on all matters of common interest. The European Leagues believes that it is in the interest of all domestic leagues, all national associations and the vast majority of European clubs to defend and strengthen the competitive balance of football – for the good of the game, the players, the fans and the clubs.

German Golf Association Round Table

A discussion will be held on topics such as digitalisation, the world handicap system, the Olympic Games and member participation. During a direct dialogue, the DGV executive board will consult with its members on the development of sustainable content.

KIM Alumni get-together: Meeting for the sports managers of the future

Every year, KIM Alumni – Germany’s largest network of young sports management and marketing students and graduates – meets at the SPOBIS to network with sponsors and supporters.

Meeting of the Association of German Stadium Operators (VdS)

The forty-fifth meeting of the Association of German Stadium Operators (VdS) will also take place during the SPOBIS. The VdS sees itself as an alliance for the exchange of information and advice between stadium operators and also represents their interests. Founded in 2007, the VdS currently has a total of 46 members.

Meeting of Working Group III of the European Association of Event Centres (EVVC)

The EVVC represents around 750 event and convention centres, arenas and special event locations in Europe. The original aim and concern of the EVVC is to facilitate an exchange of experiences between the individual centres, exchange knowledge and information, support members and lobby for the industry’s interests. The members of Working Group III will meet at the SPOBIS for one of its two to three annual working group meetings. 

Rugby Forum meeting on school rugby in Germany

School rugby and young talent work will be central topics at the third DRV Rugby Forum 2020 in Frankfurt. In the wake of the sensational title win of the German national rugby sevens team at the European championships in 2019, there have been numerous requests to offer appropriate variants in schools. During the SPOBIS in Düsseldorf, the organisers of the Rugby Forum, Ralf Iwan and Peter Smutna, will meet with representatives from the regional associations to further develop the concepts for school rugby proposed during the third Rugby Forum.

SPO-MAN get together

The non-profit association SPO-MAN currently brings together around 650 students, graduates and employees from the sports management programme at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences. During the visit to the SPOBIS, the focus will be on current issues in addition to further training in the exchange between members.

Sports Maniac Community Meeting

Digital meets analogue. This is the motto for the Sports Maniac community meeting at the SPOBIS. Whether you’re a community member or simply interested in digital trends and innovations in the sports business industry, the Sports Maniacs meeting is just the place to broaden your digital horizons, and to exchange and network with the community on the most important future topics in sport.

Werte-Stiftung meeting

The Werte-Stiftung supports and initiates projects in the fields of education and elite sport. On the Open Stage, the foundation will present its cooperation with the Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe for the first time and discuss how it supports elite athletes at the start of their career. An exchange will also take place with the athletes present.
